The MSTS rigging courses are designed to train and equip you in all aspects of working as a rigger in industry in WA, with our first class facilities and trainers MSTS courses are among the best rigging courses Perth & WA has to offer.

There are three classes of Rigging: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.

This course is the Licence to perform rigging basic level.

Each class will need to be obtained before moving on to the next. A current High Risk Dogging licence must also be held before starting the Basic Rigging.

Rigging is a high risk training course, and on successful completion, students are awarded a WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence (RB/RI/RA), as well as a Statement of Attainment.

Rigging courses are available in both the Mandurah and Port Hedland Training Centres.

Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing this course applicants will:

• Be aware of duty of care requirements, relevant sections of the O.H. & S. Regulations and Australian Standards.
• Understand a Safely plan and execute basic rigging duties.
• Have a full understanding of most common types of FSWR and their particular applications.
• Be able to set-up winches, sheaves and purchases for FSWR and fibre rope.

Identify and correctly operate:

• Rigging appliances (spreader bars, chain blocks, and cum-a-longs).
• Anchorages and fittings.
• Steel erection.
• Cantilevered crane-loading platforms.
• Erection of hoists and mast climbers.
• Industrial safety nets.
• Safety nets and static lines.

Become proficient in:

• Handling pre cast concrete. (Not tilt up panels)
• Plan reading.
• Use of PPE.

High Risk Work Licence in the Dogging (DG) class is required. All learners must be at least 18 years old and able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard. MSTS recognises that some learners may require more support to meet the requirements of the training course. We will endeavour to meet these needs with regards to; language, literacy and numeracy skills. Learners are encouraged, prior to commencing the course and where applicable, to complete an MSTS LLN analysis, which will assist the Trainer/Assessor to interpret individual skill level and manage this from the onset.

All successful applicants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment: Licence to Perform Rigging Basic Level – CPCCLRG3001. A High Risk Work Licence with RB class will also be issued by Worksafe WA.
